Some of the partners could travel to Porto and some attended the meeting virtually. This third meeting was very useful to advance in the IO3 of the project. The work to be done by the partners was distributed and the deadlines for that work were set between all of them.
The work done until the date was overviewed and AFV explained to the partners the Third Intellectual Output and also explained the two different parts that it is going to contain. These two parts are going to be Resources for encouraging female VET student to enter in the foundry professional field and Resources for encouraging female VET student to break gender stereotypes.
For her determination and professionalism are the key success factors in her challenging job.
In the excellent working environment and welcoming athmosphere of the modern factory CAN METAL they met and interviewed our three Turkish role models - Hamide Battal, Hanife Sezer and Kiymet Kılık, who shared their stories of challenges and susseses in a very touching and motivating way. For the filming our team received great support by the management of the factory.
She works as an integral part of the engineering group at FELINO - one of the largest and the best known companies on the Iberian Peninsula providing bakery equipment and both iron and aluminium castings, rough cast or machined. Diana has Master degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. Her message is that people wishing to pursue a career in this field should keep their horizons open and not put any barriers in the first place.
Can Metal Inc, operating in the field of high pressure aluminum injection casting and affiliated to Yeşilova Holding, consists of nearly 50 percent of its production staff are women despite being in the heavy and dangerous workplace class.
Expressing that women take their production quality one step further by being more attentive and careful, Can Metal A.Ş. General Manager Selim Güney, "We are operating with a hazardous production method based on attention. Currently we have 60 employees. 40 percent of our staff is female. Our female operators work in our surface treatment, CNC machining, machining, robotic automation and injection department. We are very happy to work with female operators as it is a careful job..Women work very successfully in all departments in production. There is of course a physical difference between men and women. "Women can be inadequate in heavy physical work, but women take a step forward in attention-based production using automation."
“MEN ARE WORKING NORMALLY. WOMEN ARE WORKİNG EXTRAORDINARILY”
Hamide Dalkılıç, the mother of 2 children from the factory employees, said, "I only had difficulty until I got used to the work. I had no problems after getting used to it. Our employers help us. The difficulty is only until the body gets used. We do the same work with men. Of course we get help in things that require body strength, but for us It is not difficult. Men are working normally. Women are working extraordinarily. Women are working with zero error. If the goods we produce come back, we will be sad. So we work very carefully and attentively as women. "
“I HAVE WORKED IN THE HEAVY INDUSTRY FOR 25 YEARS"
Ayşen Turhan, who has been working in heavy industry for nearly 25 years, said "I am 43 years old. I have been working in heavy industry for 25 years. I have a 20-year-old girl. I graduated from vocational high school electrical and electronics department. So, I'm a graduate of the electrical department, which is already a male profession. So this job is not difficult for me, on the contrary, it is more interesting to me. If they say to me, 'work in textiles', I can't work. I have to touch iron necessarily. We get support when we have heavy loads from men. It works hard for the lady, but there is a pride in achieving this. As we do this, we receive more support from both our environment and our superiors. We are more careful than men. We are preferred because we are more attentive in the jobs that require skill. "
The friendly working and social environment helped us to be creative and effective during the discussions for research and selection of role models - women sucessfuly working in the foundry industry. It is agreed that these criteria to be applied in order to select the women profile werer agreed. Regarding activity/sector these will be firstly women working in the casting activity in general terms, or in the foundry sector, and secondly, women working in metal/industrial sector. Regarding professional profile: women working as operational staff (production or quality) and secondly in the managerial staff category. We also discussed the methodology that will be used to develop the planned digital toolkit for vet trainers and youth career facilitators.
